HARRISBURG – A $1 million grant to support Dreams Go On Therapeutic Riding Center is among several Blair County projects approved today for financing, according to Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair).

“I’m a big supporter of Dreams Go On, as I have personally witnessed how it brings about physical changes and overall outlook improvements among those with challenges. The therapies provided on horseback are unmatched for people with physical, developmental or emotional needs,” Gregory said.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved the Dreams Go On grant from Local Share Account funding, which is generated from slot-machine revenue, not tax dollars.

Additionally, CFA approved $750,000 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund for rail lines and facility improvements as DeGol Industrial Center expands in Frankstown Township. It also allocated $138,775 from Local Share Account funds for a replacement tractor for Blair Township.

Dreams Go On, a nonprofit organization, works with adults and children diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy, brain injuries and other conditions. Its capital project includes constructing a barn and indoor arena that will provide for lessons during inclement weather.

“The benefits of horseback riding include not only muscular and cardiovascular development, but also self-esteem and motivation through a sense of freedom and independence,” Gregory said. “This is a worthy program that has done so much for our friends and neighbors.”
