HARRISBURG – As the nation marks the second anniversary of COVID-19 cases being detected within its borders, Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair) is considering the impact of the virus on his constituents. He not only continues to mourn the lives lost and permanently altered, but also recognizes COVID-19 had great effects on businesses and households in Blair County.

Gregory’s offices in Hollidaysburg and Bellwood assisted 1,130 people with unemployment claims in the first 22 months of the pandemic. It also assisted 421 people with applications for Property Tax/Rent Rebate assistance, 1,598 people with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation issues, and 312 people seeking birth certificates.

“COVID-19, inflation, supply chain issues and business shutdown orders have pressured our unemployment compensation system at unprecedented levels. People are seeking assistance close to home, and we are always happy to help people I represent in the 80th District,” Gregory said. “Blair County is fortunate to have talented staff members in my offices as well as those for Rep. Lou Schmitt and Sen. Judy Ward.”

Residents of the 80th District can call 814-695-2398 to make an appointment for services.
