HARRISBURG – Two projects in Blair County have been awarded First Industries Fund agriculture loans totaling more than $400,000, according to Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair).
The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) on Monday approved applications from Aaron Z. and Arlene H. Fox in Woodbury Township and Reuben and Martha Newswanger in Huston Township. The First Industries Fund is a program aimed at strengthening Pennsylvania's agriculture and tourism industries through loan guarantees. The program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development under the direction of the CFA.
The loan program supports land and building acquisition and construction, machinery and equipment purchases and upgrades, and working capital.
The Fox application states $200,000 will be used to construct a dairy facility on Drake Road. The Newswanger application states $215,000 will be used to build a 25,461-square-foot egg-laying facility on Clover Creek Road.
“I’m so pleased to have two applications in Blair County receive support. Agriculture is Pennsylvania’s No. 1 industry, and we need to commit to helping our farmers as they prepare for the future,” Gregory said.
