Gregory Announces Change in Time of Shredding Event
HOLLIDAYSBURG – To prevent issues with traffic, Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair/Huntington) announced that the time of the free shredding event in Hollidaysburg for district residents is being changed.
The first event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 12noon - 4 p.m., at Legion Memorial Park along North Juniata Street in Hollidaysburg. This event will remain on the same date, however the time has changed for shredding to be earlier in the day.
“I apologize for any inconvenience caused by changing the time. The last time we hosted this event, it was extremely successful and brought in a great number of residents,” Gregory said. “With one week out until the first shredding event, we learned Skills of Central Pennsylvania is hosting a ribbon cutting at the Discovery Garden at the same park and at our original time frame. With this in mind, we worked with Mike Lysakowski, marketing director with Skills of Central PA and a member of the Discovery Garden Committee, to set a new time that would allow our residents to take full advantage of the event.”
“Rep. Gregory has keen knowledge of the park property and surrounding access roads, and identified some potential difficulties with conducting both events in the same timeframe.” Lysakowski commented. “Adjusting the time for the shredding event based on his wisdom from previous years – speaks volumes about his desire to make things run smoothly in this community.
The second event will remain at the current date and time as Thursday, Sept. 21, from 4-7 p.m. at Gregory’s Bellwood district office, located at
135 Stadium Drive.
“While discussing the well-crafted change of plan with me, Rep. Gregory mentioned his appreciation for our organization, and for what the garden provides to the people of Holidaysburg and Blair County. We appreciate the flexibility exhibited by him and his staff, in adjusting their schedule to prevent traffic, parking, and congestion issues,” Lysakowski added.
The events are free, and residents are encouraged to bring documents that contain credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information and bank account information to be shredded. Each household may bring up to 100 pounds of paper.
Paper clips and staples can be handled by Burgmeier’s Shredding; however, items that cannot be shredded include cardboard, hanging file folders, large binder clips and three-ring binders
